On Earth Day, April 22, you might have noticed quite a few students with garbage bags doing their part in cleaning up our campus. From 11-3p.m. around 45 volunteers participated in New Horizons' Earth Day Clean-up. Many individual students volunteered their time to make this project a success, as well as school clubs like PTK, SGA, and ACT. Even some children from the on campus daycare got in the spirit and pitched in. The Clean-up was considered a success with a majority of the campus picked free of garbage and cigarette butts. On Friday April 24, flowers were placed in the planters outside of the entryways around campus. These flowers, along with the soil and gravel, were purchased with the $350 that New Horizons raised during their bake sales. Shannon Melcher, the New Horizons' President, hopes to continue Earth Day Clean-up every year with the campus's support.
