College is a new experience to everyone, the idea of choosing which classes to take and how many credits you need, may become overwhelming. Choosing classes wisely can be overwhelming. As the semester continues, keeping up with all the work that is given in class presents a new challenge.

Some students think that if they are doing poorly in a class, they should hurry up and drop it, so it doesn't affect their GPA.

This is not the only solution. UW Waukesha has an incredible Study Center that offers many things to students for no cost. When asked what the Study Center all offers every student, Andrea lochen a tutor part of the Study Center explained, " We offer tutoring, study skills, personal counseling, study groups, we have fourteen computers plus a printer, and we have quest places to study as well." Wow! There are a lot of things that are offered that can help a student out with a subject that they are struggling with.
Here are a few things that every student should know about the Study Center.
The Study center is open Mon. through Thurs. 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Fri. 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Andrea Lochen filled us in on how to sign up for tutoring, she explained that if seeking tutoring for writing and math, "The student has to either claim a time slot on the chart on our bulletin board or simply drop in during regular hours." "For math or writing, a student should pick up a yellow 'request for Tutorial Assistance' form from the Study Center's front desk. Once the form is signed by a student's math professor, the study center can then assign a weekly time slot for that student." Andrea Lochen wants to remind all students, "Not only does the Study Center have tutoring for math and writing, we also offer a wide variety of tutoring, from Sciences to Foreign languages to Business classes." So next semester when choosing your classes not knowing how the class might go, don't always settle for the easiest classes out of the bunch. Challenge yourself if anything goes wrong you now know that the Study Center is always there with open hangs ready to help out. If that doesn't work out then there is always the idea of dropping a class if worse comes to worse. There are many things you should think about when choosing a class for your schedule, and now there is another thing added to that list, knowing there is always going to be help if needed.
