For students who are planning on graduating this upcoming May, there are a few things that each and every one should have in mind. The few things that need to be done before walking across the stage are finishing up the last of the credits or talking to an advisor to make sure all the credits you worked so diligently for will transfer to your next school.

What every student should know before choosing their classes for their last semester and wrapping everything up is there are requirements that every student has to meet with the credits that they take. The requirements for credits can be found in one of the academic planners that UW-Waukesha hands out, usually to new students or freshman. Therefore if a student doesn't receive one of those helpful planners they can always feel free to go to their advisors and they would be more than happy to help figure out classes and credits.

Every student is required to have 60 credits by the time they want to graduate UW-Waukesha, whether it be they went here for two years and are finishing or they went to a different four-year college and now are going to UW-Waukesha but their credits transferred. Whatever the circumstance is every student needs 60 credits that break down into different categories of classes and majors. Here are associate degree requirements:
•Fine Arts and Humanities students should have a minimum of 9 credits.
•Mathematical and Natural Sciences require at least 11 credits.
•Social Science has a minimum of 9 credits.
•Application and Performance needs a minimum of three credits.
•Ethnic Studies which only need at least three credits.
•Interdisciplinary Studies which also need at least three credits.

For classes that are taken and don't fall into one of those categories, don't stress over it thinking it's a waste, there are Electives that will always help bring your amount of credits up to the total needed. One thing students need to keep in mind for the categories that are both math and science are students need to receive credits from both categories, not all 11 credits are from math, because you are spectacular at math.

Therefore, when choosing classes and trying to figure out how many credits you have, the question students need to be asking is, "do I have enough?" Never be scared to go to an advisor whether it is your assigned advisor; if you don't know whom that is, it shows on your prism account, otherwise there are advisors that are always helpful in the study center. Or look around school where the Course Schedule booklets are located you might be lucky and find an academic planner that can be very helpful in many ways.
