Elena Schaefer
Issue date: 12/9/09 Section: News
The Observer had a chance to sit down with Tony Greco, the campus parking enforcer, to answer a few questions the newspaper thought would be of interest to readers. Originally this piece was just an everyday faculty spotlight; however readers will be sure to discover there is nothing everyday about what Greco does on campus or in his personal life.
Greco's official title on campus is security officer two. According to the Assistant Campus Dean for Administrative Services, Joanne Robis, Greco's responsibilities are, "Parking enforcement, based on the rules established in the parking information brochure. Another smaller component is general security; assistance if there is an incident on campus, checking door locks, monitoring students on criminal probation, and observing all aspects of campus."
Q & A.
What made you choose to work at UW-Waukesha?
"It was an ad I answered, it jumped out at me. Thought it would be something I would like to do and turned out to be something I really enjoy."
How long have you worked here on campus?
"Since September of 2006."
Is the car you drive around campus owned by you or supplied by the school?
"No, it's mine."
How about your radar detector?
"It's a certified calibrated traffic radar." (purchased by Tony)
What is your favorite part or aspect of your job?
"I have to say it is working with the diverse amount of people; different backgrounds, different personalities."
Do you have a least favorite part or aspect of your job?
"Quite honestly no, I can't say there's really something I can pinpoint that I don't like doing."
So it seems you are satisfied with your work here on campus?
"Very satisfied, and it has to do with people here like Joanne, Michelle, Beth, Ellyn, Nancy, and Vi. If it wasn't for the support of these ladies [at the Business Office] I'm telling you."
Are you involved in the process of written appeals sent in about parking citations?
