Upcoming Changes for UW Waukesha

During a regular visit to UW Colleges, Chancellor David Wilson described many issues with a few students. One subject touched upon was textbook rentals. Wilson suggested a rental program that would be saving students hundreds of dollars every semester if books were rented and not just sold. Students chatting with the chancellor agreed rental would be more efficient and would take some stress off with the whole money issue.
Another subject discussed was with the highest number of students enrolled ever, and should dorms be built on campus to accommodate these students. All of the students going to UW-Waukesha have to commute to the school and dorms could be an easier alternative.
Would students be willing to pay an extra $25 per semester, for a total of $50 per year extra, to increase incomes for faculty by a couple thousand yearly? Wilson discussed salary raises for professors, since the faculty has a 10-12 percent lower salary than other UW colleges. Some students at the meeting agreed it would be a good idea; others had different points of view.
Another subject touched upon was new equipment for UW-Waukesha's science department. Since some of it is outdated, it would be a good idea to invest in the department since so many students are enrolled in UW-Waukesha's science department. But since the department was denied a large amount of money for new equipment, Wilson said it could be an investment in the near future.
